Many years ago I used to drive in Stage Rallies and won my class and the Novice award on the 2004 Sunseeker Rally. By my side was my “father in law but without the marriage” Howard “”Sid” Sidebottom. He was unflappable and we had some great adventures! For the rally we raised £600 for the The Rowans Hospice in Purbrook. Neither of us gave any thought to us one day needing the amazing service they provide! Sadly Sid past away there a couple of years back and is much missed by his family and me.
Forward a couple of years and it’s my turn!
First off the Rowans Meerkat Service have been providing councillors to help Oliver and Immy through this tough time and it’s been of great help to them.
I usually don’t jump over a charity that has effected me, all are as splendid as one and other but the Rowans who raise 90% of their costs themselves are really struggling and might have to cut services and staff. It’s ridiculous that we spend billions on things that many consider a waste yet rely on charities to help tax payers get through their end of life care.
Anyways……….
Alongside our brothers from Combat South Airsoft we are going to hold a game and donate 100% of the TAKINGS to the Rowans. Steve from CS recieved wonderful care there in his fight against a brain tumour and it would be an honour to raise some money together to remember both Steve and Sid and help this wonderful organisation.
So 23rd June, UCAP GreenOps CS will hold a day of Airsoft fun. All money taken by us will go in the pot. We will hold a raffle to raise more and I’ll be making a series of ridiculous bets to top it up further.
If we get over 150 people I will personally add £1000.
We will also be putting collection pots on site.
Let’s try and raise a couple of quid!
If you would like to donate you can do so here: Go Fund Me Link for Rowans Meerkat Service https://gofund.me/7a1fc850
I’ve put my money where my mouth is and have donated £5000 in advance of the fundraising game on 23rd June.
If you donate £15 or more, show your name on just giving and claim your free UCAP patch on site.
If we raise more than £5000 on the day, the extra will be added to the fund.
